Research + book design
+ performance
+ performance
Before acting: daily rituals is the MA thesis project at ISIA Urbino.
The research and the entire project is about reconsidering the meaning and importance of ritual gestures in everyday life. These actions are often taken for granted but in reality they constitute
a source of survival, comfort and spirituality that we sometimes lose. The purpose of the book is to bring back awareness, spirituality and rituals in the age of “disenchantment.” In this sense, the project becomes a kind of performance exercise. The book represents a manual for a performance apt to
find time to devote to one’s spirituality, a cathartic act. Elementary, repetitive, rhythmic exercises reactivate in the performer primordial elements of liberation.
